IAA Announcement: 2025 Conference - Call for Abstracts Open

Hello everyone!  It is with great pleasure that we invite you to the 38th annual meeting of the International Anaplastology Association in the beautiful and historic city of Leuven, Belgium!  This will be the first time that the conference has been held in Europe in over a decade, and we are thrilled to meet with many of our international friends and colleagues in the heart of the European Union.  As an “international” association, it is essential that these meetings to be made accessible to the many practitioners worldwide who help our organization thrive.

The theme for this year’s conference is simple and elegant: ART & CRAFT.  At the end of the day, our goal as anaplastologists is to make beautiful objects that will benefit and rehabilitate our patients.  Craftsmanship is key, and with that in mind, we would like to offer a wide array of practical, technical skill-building workshops and presentations in addition to our core scientific program.  We only have a few opportunities to meet with one another in person, and it is essential that we work together to provide a curriculum that will help us to improve our skills and improve outcomes for our patients.

This will be an in-person meeting and we hope to draw many attendees from our extended network of international anaplastology, maxillofacial, and related organizations.  This will be an excellent opportunity to connect with our international community.  Please feel free to invite any colleagues and practitioners who have been in contact with and have hoped to meet – the more the merrier!

The conference will be held at Martin’s Klooster, also known as “House Morillon” (named after Guy Morillon, Secretary to Charles V).  Built in the 16th century, the building has a long history as both a residence and a monastery, going through many expansions and rebuilt in the post-war era, eventually becoming a legally protected monument in 1947.   The hotel is comprised of an intriguing blend of late Gothic and modern architecture.  The hotel is just steps from the Grote Markt in downtown Leuven, and the winding alleys and plazas are filled with the classic indulgences that Belgium has become renowned for: chocolate, waffles, and beer (to name a few!).

Leuven is the capital city of the Vlaams-Brabant province in the Flemish region of Belgium and the oldest university city in the BeNeLux region, with the first university established in 1425.  The flagship university of KU Leuven (Katholieke Universiteit Leuven) is the largest university in the BeNeLux region as well as the largest Dutch-speaking university worldwide.  Leuven is also home to the historic Artois brewery and Anheuser-Busch InBev brewing company.

Mild summer weather and daylight well past 10pm will be plenty of encouragement for our attendees to amble about the beautiful streets and find a terrace for some authentic Flemish delicacies. We look forward to seeing you all soon!

Ali Padilla, MS, Anaplastologist
Vice President
