This course will demonstrate fundamental and innovative techniques used to create realistic texture and vanishing margins for a silicone facial prosthesis. Each attendee will be provided with a materials list upon registering for the course. Participants will utilize a variety of tools (recommended by the instructor) to accurately replicate wrinkle and pore patterns in a wax model, which can be applied to a variety of facial prostheses. Participants will gain a better understanding of how to match appropriate skin textures to their patients, as well as how to manipulate the mold base and wax sculpture to account for tissue mobility in order to minimize gapping and produce margins that blend smoothly with surrounding tissue.
